Submit to MAMMA
To submit your creations to MAMMA, please read the information below. If you still have questions, email MAMMA at kb@kbgressitt.com or call K-B at 760-522-1064 (Pacific Time).
Do bear in mind, kiddos, that MAMMA’s goal is to inform, enlighten and move the hearts and minds of those who oppose same-sex marriage.
What to submit
We welcome submissions of original poetry, short fiction, essays, articles, creative nonfiction, videos and images about being gay or having LGBT family members or friends in your life.
Erotica is OK; pornography is not and, like Associate Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart, we know it when we see it.
As for length of original prose, please bear in mind the medium: Shorter pieces (a handful up to 1,500 words or so) lend themselves well to websites. However, if your work is longer and compelling, we will make it work, regardless of length. Not to worry, we’re mothers! (But please don’t send a novel — or even a novella!)
We also welcome links to the work of others currently published online, such as links to YouTube videos, relevant websites, articles, etc. However, we will publish or link to such a submission only if we can confirm we can do so without violating the creator’s rights.
If you are sending a link to someone else’s work, don’t worry about the length.
How to submit
Please email your submissions to kb@kbgressitt.com. Email poetry and prose as MS Word or simple text attachments. Attachments must include your name and contact information, including your email address.
Please paste links to images and video and other currently published online work in the body of an email message.
PLEASE indicate in your email how you would like your name to appear on your original work.
If you submit a link to someone else’s work, we will use your first name as the source of the content — unless you indicate in your email message that we may use your full name as written in your message.
No, like most of the best things in life, we do not pay
We are all volunteers, working for a common cause. Our site costs are donated. And, several of us are writers, so we know the frustration of trying to live off our art.
We do offer as compensation for accepted submissions the joy of contributing to the advancement of civil rights — and beefing up your portfolio of published work! If you’re within range of Fallbrook, California, we also offer a maternal hug and a kiss.
Rights?
By submitting to MAMMA, unless you indicate the submission is someone else’s work, you are committing that the work you send is your original creation and that you give us first-time rights to publish the submitted piece on this site, where it will remain until we achieve marriage equality and you don’t need your MAMMA anymore. Other than that, we assume no other rights to your work — go forth and sell it elsewhere!
