Seriously (and otherwise), we’ll be posting some fabulous videos here — to make you laugh or cry or cheer or just wonder. But a word of wisdom from your MAMMA: Many people do not understand parody. Or satire. Or plain old humor. MAMMA figures it must be genetic. Nonetheless, if you want to change someone’s mind, don’t ridicule what is important to her or him. We recommend that you speak firmly and carry a big heart. Keep the big stick as backup.
Consequently, consider the Dick Cheney, Saving Marriage, Weathering the Storm and Heartland Men’s Chorus videos appropriate for general audiences. As for the others, use them thoughtfully. Think before you hit send: Will this enlighten or offend?

Saving Marriage documents the campaign for marriage equality in Massachusetts. MAMMA won’t recommend anything we haven’t already consumed ourselves, but the trailer made us cry and gave us hope, so here it is!

Funny or Die‘s The Gaythering Storm, by Jane Lynch, parodies the National Organization for Marriage‘s Gathering Storm public service announcement (PSA). Oh, good gracious, does it! Then, Stephen Colbert takes a bull’s eye shot at NOM’s PSA on The Colbert Report. Comparing the three is surely entertaining, possibly disturbing, and possibly not useful. However, it’s helpful to review the arguments suggested by NOM. … Then, take a look at Love Not Laws‘ Weathering the Storm, a thoughtful response to NOM from its targets.
