OK. So I was walking out of Rite Aid two days ago behind these two Hispanic guys when I overheard one say to the other, “If I was a white guy they wouldn’t have asked me for I.D.” Seriously? Can we please get over the race thing already?

OK. So my kid came home from school one day, talking about the “stupid Spanish kids” on the playground — and my kid is Latina. So yeah, seriously? Can we please get over the race thing already?

Writing is like acting on paper

Wow … being of a “certain” age, I wish someone would ask me for my i.d. OK. So maybe it wasn’t a race thing but an age thing. We all have something we should get over already – but I draw the line at chocolate.
Now wait a minute, some of my best friends are lines.
Released by age, experience and a rebellious spirit from feeling compelled to be Politically Correct, may I say that perhaps what we all need to cop to is that we are all prejudiced in some way or another (how’s that for a run on sentence!)
Predjudice is defined as a preformed attitude, usually unfavorable., based on insufficient knowledge, irrational feelings or inaccurate sterotypes. Who among us is not guilty, on occassion, of this?
I can hear some say, “Not me!” Please. A writer must always try to be honest and self aware. Before the knee jerk reaction and heated claims, look at yourself. Do you dislike a race, a sex or a dog because you were once bitten by a mad creature? So be it. Just know where your prejudice comes from and don’t be so sanctimonious.
Perhaps then, we can understand thie “card’ when it gets played and shuffle the deck a bit better.
Am i the only one who has noticed the sudden influx of canadiens lately? Oh sure, just because they look similar to us americans we’re supposed to let them go unnoticed? I think we may have built the wall on the wrong border. Does anybody else feel this way?
Wow, we’re having fun with this one, eh?
It seems to me that “political correctness” used to be just “good manners.” It didn’t mean your heart was pure, but it did mean that you were required by first your parents then society to think before you said things the might hurt someone’s feelings.
Did a lot of mean, angry things get said? Yep! But it was not OK.
Now our children are taught by talk radio, Twitter and Congress that just saying anything is acceptable. “You are just stating your opinion.” Entitled too say anything.
I don’t miss the “good old days” but I do miss that.
Is Kevin referring to the Montreal Canadiens, the hockey team? Cause I haven’t seen any of them around and they sure don’t look like Americans.
Maybe he is referring to Canadians? If so, he needn’t worry about a wall being built, the Canadian government is considering building one. It’s to keep all the U.S. seniors looking for cheap pharmaceuticals and conservatives fleeing the Obamanation oot.
Hey, Geoff,
As Kevin wrote “canadiens,” I suspect he might prefer the hockey team remain here. … Sadly, you Canadians tend to know better than to worship fleeing conservatives. They’re damn hard to get rid of.

im sure glad the few remaining americans caught the true meaning of the word “canadiens.” kinda makes you want to say ” what the puck?”
