What is the role of the newspaper? The investigative role. Trying to keep our government (local and national) honest is a full time job. It is not done "on line" as they do not have investigative reporters necessary to get the story. The "on line" folks are using news service and that is usual national news service. I am very concerned about the loss of the news part of the newspaper and see no way that will be replaced. Am I old fashioned with old ideas...maybe..but look at the long history of the success of investigative reporting and see what we lose.
