I'm all for rioting! And I'm all for reporting -- along with directly confronting the idiots out there who think they can get away with it simply by virtue of their body parts or because there's no witness.

Thanks for the great comment!

20 somethings continue to be caught by these very confusing, paradoxical situations, by men or by women in the workplace, given the most casual of circumstances or the most formal. The question tears at the conscience as to whether to report or not, especially in today's economy. My own 20 something reminded me that we should always report, with an unforgiving tone of condemnation, following an incident at her new place of employment; emphasis on the "new". I however, coming off of the experience of having recently helped with the rent, was ready to advise that she back down. Me, of all people! Women's rights advocate! I was saved by my 20 something's independence of thought after she asked my opinion....Don't even tell me mother, I know what needs to be done. And so she reported...and we wait, much the same as in the case of the waitress. Indeed, there are always consequences for exercising your rights, but given the choice, as women we've worked long and hard to have them! As well as our marginalized and underrepresented populations, and our brothers and sisters in the LGBT community! And our women professors who are not gaining tenure in our very own UC system! And in our military! And the list goes on! Forgoing our rights in one situation leads to that insidious "flying under the radar" philosophy we all know too well. It's time to continue to raise our voices for ALL injustices regarding sexual and other forms of harassment. Sorry to be so lengthy, but you can tell that this topic is near and dear to my heart and mind! Thank you for inciting me to riot!

Beautifully done, as usual. The other night, I saw a program on this same problem with teen workers in fast food restaurants, and their lack of the maturity or experience to deal with it. Not sure I know the answer...cut them off!!
