How lovely KB.
I too miss the church of my childhood.
I miss the sweetness of Baby Jesus, the kindness to the woman at the well and the forgivness of Calvary. It is lost in the "rightness" of one idea instead of another. When Pat Robertson speaks for God - all heaven weeps.
I can't help but notice that since Republicans and the Religious Right have combined, how much "meaner" they have both gotten. How is that possible? Shouldn't it make people "love one another?"
I don't remember politics from the pulpit. Selective memory, perhaps.

Loved your article. Reminded me of my youth going to a Mennonite church in a small town in Kansas.

I believe that many, if not most, of the worlds problems come from the fact that people take their religion too seriously and still follow the ancient dictates written down by six-thousand-year-old barbaric sheepherders.

So I started a site to show the errors, violence, etc. of the Bible at: www.Biblical-illumination.org.

I enjoyed your latest…. For myself, I have started my own religion… I am the high priestess (this allows for much more interesting dress ups) and yes I do except donations and there is defiantly tithing. I believe in the Magic Muffin…while baking billions of years ago it exploded with a big bang and the rest evolved from there.

Given that I believe that less is better, I have only five commandments 1. Be kind, 2. In all things have honestly and integrity, 3. Keep thy religion to thy self, and 4. Always wear clean underwear in case of accidents (the last one was in deference to my mother), and last but not least, send your cash, check, or money order to me as soon as possible. Ask yourself, if everyone simply followed my new religion…. What kind of a world would we have?

...and I especially like the winning team (football, baseball, etc) stating, God was on our side today! I wish I could figure how God (she) figures who will win..I would go to Vegas and make a small fortune. I wonder if she reads Sports Illustrated?
